When I look back at how everything began, I never imagined that a single decision would change my life so completely. What started as a call from Carlos led me on a journey from the familiar comforts of home to the vibrant, sun-drenched landscapes of Spain.

From my first steps into a culture so different from my own, to the challenges of balancing personal passions with family life, every moment has shaped who I am today.
As I share my journey with you, I invite you into the world we created together, the animals who became part of our family, and the cultural experiences that have deeply enriched my life. This is the story of how I found my place in a new land, built a new family, and learned that sometimes, the most unexpected paths lead us to exactly where we need to be.

Life in Spain
Having traveled, lived abroad, and visited Spain, living there would not entail a drastic change in lifestyle beyond learning the language, the climate, and the food. However, I was in for a shock. I was immersed in a large, close-knit, traditional family in southern Spain in the early eighties, and it felt like stepping back in time. They had not long become a democracy, recently freed from years of dictatorship, when time had stood still, especially for those living in the poorer areas of Andalucía. The role of women was more related to that of my grandmother; for example, a woman even needed her husband or father's permission to open a bank account, whereas I had run my own business.
